FAQ- Top Mosquito & Tick Spray Questions

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. If your query is not answered below, please reach out to us on our contact page or at info@ecospray.ca

Is the product safe for my children and pets?

There are no poisons or harmful chemicals in our natural spray. It is even safe to be outside while we are spraying our natural spray. The only exception to this is our synthetic spray used for more problematic areas or infestations. It is safe for children and pets, but we do recommend staying indoors while the synthetic spray is applied, and until it is dry (usually about 1hr).

How long until I can be outside on the property?

You can be outside immediately! However, if our synthetic spray has been used, we’d recommend allowing 1hr, or until the product has dried.

Do I need to be home for the service application?

No, you do not need to be home.

What happens if it rains?

Best result are achieved when we spray your property when there is little to no precipitation. This allows the product to dry on foliage, grass, etc. ensuring it will help in repelling mosquitoes and ticks for the longest period of time. If heavy rain follows an application, it can hinder effectiveness. Simply give us a call.

Is the product safe for bees, butterflies, gardens, etc.?

Yes it is. Birds, bees, butterflies, and ladybugs are not bothered by the natural spray. The synthetic spray is more aggressive, and will jeopardize the health of beneficial insects, unless applied with care. That's why we use our unique hybrid approach. Ask us about it!

How long will the treatment last?

Ideally the treatment lasts anywhere from 3-4 weeks. This is when we like to come back to re-apply (see Seasonal Treatment Plan). However, this largely depends on precipitation, and if there is any standing water on, or close to the property.

How is the product applied?

At Ecospray we use powered backpack sprayers and manual pump sprayers to treat all of your foliage, under your deck, behind your shed, long grass, and anywhere mosquitoes and ticks rest and hide during the day. We also use tick-tubes for areas where sprays can readily reach.

What if I think it didn't work?

Given that we work within a natural environment, there is always the odd time that rain or some other circumstance occurs and the proper barrier is not created around your property. This occurs whether synthetic or natural products are used. We simply come and re-spray your property. No questions asked. Free of charge.

what can I do to further reduce mosquitoes & Ticks?

Removing any standing water (if possible) is a great place to start. This can be as simple as dumping out kiddie pools, wheelbarrows and other vehicles that can collect stagnant water. Removing piles of leaves will also help reduce mosquitoes, as they love damp areas. When it comes to ticks, regularly cutting your lawn greatly reduces ticks, as they love to hide in long grasses and removing stacks of firewood. If you have a pond, ask us about our Pond Pucks!
